AATOLYE by BAB Architects
The construction of Anadolu Agency’s new multi-purpose broadcasting and event studio building, located in the headquarters building in Ankara, has been completed. Studio design planned on the axis of innovative, multifunctional and transformable standards, belongs to BAB Architects, known for its architectural and interior design projects of various scales, which have been realized on the national and international scene.
Designed by BAB Architects, AAtölye is located in the headquarters of the Anadolu Agency in Ankara. The project was completed within two months and the construction process five months.
The existing meeting room has been innovatively redesigned. The designed space was created from scratch, based on the “broadcast design” function, by loading more than one function into it. In order to maintain the function of this region before transformation; Areas that could be converted into a broadcast studio, director and podcast rooms, green box, concert or seminar hall were added to the project. Thus, a multifunctional interior scenario was created.
The outer shell of the existing space was preserved, while the interior was demolished and completely emptied. The height provided by the single volume area is shaped by structural openings, geometric sphere shape, etc. The goal is to use the space in a functional way and to gain an aesthetic appearance by including all these spatial possibilities. At this point, in order to transform the insufficient area when considering the desired functions – into a versatile use without changing the form in the design; A very thorough mathematical calculation was done and almost every point was evaluated by BAB Architects.
First of all, this space has been designed by keeping in mind the spatial needs requested by the user, meaning an atelier/studio that can be completely transformed into one into another without being divided by walls. This condition requires the use of several disciplines together. in this direction; Mobile platforms that can be hidden inside the floor, and their heights can be changed according to the method of use (event, concert, conference, training, AA talks, broadcast programs), and the mechanical infrastructures that allow the table used to be brought in during the broadcast. To the same level with the floor if desired.
A comprehensive electrical infrastructure is designed to provide consultancy for technological equipment to the needs of the manager and all technical areas, and to provide solutions for all functions loaded in the design with this equipment. As a result of it all, with the aforementioned technical and architectural solutions, form and function are equal in design; Created as a versatile studio for events and broadcasts, it gives its users the opportunity to have different experiences in the same venue.
