Christmas is a time when a lot of things and people get busy: buying food for meals, hanging decorations, collecting gifts … By getting rid of the extras, you can simplify your life and make room for them.
If we already experience more stress from clutter or piling things up than we can handle on a daily basis, Christmas can exacerbate that feeling due to the abundance of gifts, decorations, and items for special dinners and visiting bag-toting relatives. Organize your home and get rid of anything unnecessary first!
Old or vintage Christmas decor
Every Christmas, the decorations are put in a box and hidden from view. Because of this, it’s easy for us to end up collecting tricky decorative fixtures, broken lights, or unsightly items we bought at the last minute to get our hands on. Mercilessly purge and organize your new purchases for the year.
Ugly tables or a tad
Nothing looks worse than a Christmas table with a shabby looking tablecloth. Even if they are used a lot and may be out of date, it is better to get rid of them and replace them with something else that will not spoil the overall design of your Christmas table.
Christmas lights malfunction
Make sure all the decorations are in good shape and the lights are working properly before you put up the Christmas tree and decorate the house. If you wait until after you’ve already put it on the tree and it turns out it’s not going, you’ll have to do it twice. Replace the batteries in any devices that require them, then plug in the others to make sure they are all working properly.
Open perfume that you don’t wear
If you have several opened perfumes that you don’t use, it’s a good idea to get rid of them, whether it’s because you don’t like the way they smell or you never remember to use them. Also keep in mind that open perfume oxidizes over time, changing in scent, color, and texture.
Old-fashioned Christmas sweaters
If you participated in last year’s “Ugly Christmas Sweater Day”, also known as “Ugly Christmas Sweater Day”, you undoubtedly have an annoying sweater that makes you uncomfortable when you enter the wardrobe. Buy yourself an ugly Christmas sweater just for one day, but never do it again.
