If there is one part of the house where you want to feel relaxed, it is the bedroom. It’s the room in which we spend most of the hours of our day, and quietness is very important to getting a good night’s sleep.
This is especially the case for those who struggle with sleep, struggle with anxiety, or have battled the likes of addiction, and sleep deprivation is often a major factor in why someone relapses.
Of course, you don’t have to be in alcohol-specific rehab to understand that you need your bedroom to be a place of comfort. But how do you do that?
Well, there are so many ways you can make it more comfortable, safe, and calm, here are our top tips for creating a calmer atmosphere in your bedroom…
Color is vital
The first thing you should consider is the color of the room. Color can really change the mood of a room and, in turn, your mood as well.
It is the same for every room, with more natural colors suitable for the bathroom, while in the bedroom, neutral colors should dominate to provide a more relaxing atmosphere, while pastels and softer shades can also be used to add a splash of color.
Houseplants will help
You probably don’t need us to tell you about the power of houseplants these days. It is well known, however, that few of us still place it in the bedroom instead of providing it to the living and kitchen spaces.
Succulent plants are ideal for the bedroom as they are easy to care for, clean the air and create a more natural and calm environment in the bedroom.
Avoid clutter
It is scientifically proven that clutter increases stress levels, which means that clutter in the bedroom is not conducive to a good night’s sleep.
If you can’t avoid clutter in your bedroom, consider some clever storage solutions and implement them in your bedroom. You may have to invest, but it’s definitely worth getting the sleep and relaxation you need.
Develop areas for different activities
If you are lucky enough to have a large bedroom, you can divide the room into different parts depending on what you want to use it for. This will keep the room more organized and clutter-free.
If you love to read before you go to bed, create a little corner with a comfortable seat and soft lighting to lose yourself in a book. The same goes for things like writing a diary or doing your hair and makeup in the morning.
This will then help keep the bed area clear so you can sleep comfortably.
